Welcome to Amelia's Aerie!
Amelia is an adult female peregrine falcon - one of the few found nesting in Connecticut.
Her aerie is a nest located outside the 21st floor of Travelers tower building in downtown Hartford.
Amelia was captive bred (in Minnesota) and brought to Rochester, New York
in 1994 where she was raised to fledging and released through hacking. In 1997,
she moved to Hartford's Travelers Tower, where she has faithfully returned each year to nest.
So far, she has produced eight offspring. Her male partner's name and origin are unknown, since
biologists have not been able to read his identifying leg band numbers.
Peregrine Watch at Travelers Tower is brought to you through a partnership among The Children's Museum,
the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and Travelers.
